CountryRoads
Name of Maker: Nancy Prince
CountryRoads - Country Roads depicts quietness and is a virtual escape to a simpler way of life. Thread painting created the three and one half million stitches necessary to create the embroidered designs. No machine embroidery cards were used. The inspiration for the design came from a calendar and memories of growing up in the mountains of North Carolina. As I made the quilt, I could imagine walking down the dirt road on my way to nowhere.
2 Meeting Street
Name of Maker: Nancy Prince
2 Meeting Street - While on a spring vacation in Charleston, SC, I took a photograph of a back porch of a wonderful and nostalgic bed and breakfast at 2 Meeting Street. The grounds and especially the azaleas were in magnificent bloom and I could already envision my next quilt as I snapped the picture. The quilt was hand appliquéd and except for the borders and backing, the fabric was hand-painted. The appliqué embroidery such as the flowerpots, foreground flowers and trees were achieved by free-motion machine embroidery. The quilt top was machine quilted.
Longing for the Past
Name of Maker: Nancy Prince
Longing for the Past - Thread is the tie that binds this quilt together. Approximately 12,000 yards of thread, over 100 thread colors and close to 3 million stitches are intertwined throughout the thread painted designs. No embroidery cards were used. Hand painted fabric was used for the background and painted quilt bias binding created each individual board of siding on the house and church. Longing for the Past is a step back into a seemingly simpler moment in time.
Life in Holly Ridge
Name of Maker: Nancy Prince
Life in Holly Ridge - Approximately 50,000 yards of thread and 5 million stitches created the thread painted designs. No embroidery cards were used. The background fabric was hand painted and Tsukineko Inks were used to ink the doors and windows on the houses and bias sided stores. My grandchildren are the merchants in the town. It took approximately 1500 hours of frustration, a ton of trial and error and incredible fun and ultimately total joy to complete the quilt. Take a look around the town and step back in history a bit.

Hunt Club Cozy
Name of Maker: Lisa marie
Hunt Club Cozy - I made this quilt for my husband to take to his hunt camp. However, we end up fighting over it on cool nights. I used 3M thinsulate batting and then fleece for the backing. This is one warm quilt. I also sewed on a belt so that when he can tear it away from me he can roll it up and belt it. Makes it easy to travel with. I think that I may add some pockets.
Ambitious Beginnings
Name of Maker: Me
Ambitious Beginnings - This was the first Quilt that I made. This quilt was so big that I had to trim off some and used it to piece the back. Way bigger then our king size bed. It's a big joke now. I had to have it quilted because I just couldn't squeeze it into my machine. I love this quilt and use it and wash it over and over. I can see that some of my seams are pulling apart and my dog chewed a hole thru it but I will just love it more.
