Thumbelina - Thumbelina is based on Hans Christian Andersons fairytale. She is machine quilted, but all hand beaded over hand applique. She was created in the center using threadpainting.
Black and Taupe - I had unfortunately torn out the medallion design from a magazine and didn't make note of where it is from, I think perhaps Quilters Newsletter, but am not sure.
House in the Hills - Created for the Grab Bag swap (old bag o' stuff challenge) from www.quiltart.com.
I used all kinds of glass beads for the roofs of the homes, and all the work is hand done.
Two Steppin - Appliqued Cowboy boots on various blue backgrounds. Entirely handquilted & embellished with suade trim and buttons. Inspiration was my "Urban Cowboy" days and memories of two stepping on the dance floor.
The Raven (nevermore) - An original design based on the story by Edgar Allen Poe. I tried to capture the images of the raven sitting and waiting on top of that door!
Industrial Revolutions - Even though this is only an 8" traditional dresdin plate block, the centers are not so traditional. I used shisha mirrors and sewed by hand ribbon rings around each mirror as the center for every block.
Springtime Garden - I designed this quilt as Turlock Quilt Guild's 2004 Opportunity Quilt. It was constructed by a committee of guild members. The pieced blocks were done with paper piecing. It is hand appliqued and hand quilted.
My Garden Needs Pruning - This was an original design I drafter after recieving the Hoffman Challenge fabric for 2006. It was accepted and is now touring with Hoffman.
Spinning distraction - Created from a photograph of a windmill in my front yard, my intention was to capture the image in all its imperfect beauty. Contains cottons, silks, and rayons.
Anniversary Dawn - I designed this quilt for the Turlock Quilt Guild's 25th anniversary show. The quilt was assembled by a committee of guild members. The pieced blocks were all done with paper piecing. The applique elements include many three dimensional techniques. The quilt was exquisitely machine quilted by Don Linn in Redding, CA.
Name of Maker: Kristine Griffin - Church members autographed blks
Friendship Quilt - I came up with colors Carrie would like and a poem to express our care for her and had all Church members that wanted to draw or write a personal sentiment. Carrie had been in an auto accident that almost took her life.
Swedish Log Cabin - This quilt is from the International Quilt Mystery series, the Sweden Month. I added some blues and yellows so I could make more blocks and then have the star design. I love the outcome!
