The Evil Thing

The Evil Thing - Our quilt guild the Needle Navigators had a challenge to interpret a movie title or theme. I chose "The Gods Must Be Crazy" and depicted the Coke bottle that landed in the village and caused all sorts of mayhem. The bottle is appliqued with Sulky Holoshimmer thread and the grasses are couched fancy yarns. The quilting depicts natural landforms. This was one of those quilts that put itself together!

A Journey Through Life - This quilt was made for my daughter and her fiancee for their wedding which is on June 16, 2007. It took me 1 1/2 years to make as I had to research the celtice designs first and design a layout for the quilt.

I took a class on tumbling blocks with Jackie Robinson at the Houston Show, decided that it would be great for my granddaughter, Mallori Rose. It is for her babies in her cradle that her Great Grandfather made for her. I also had enough material to make a pillow.

Happy Daz - Quilt was made for my neice's new baby boy, Dylln Michael. The center blocks were embroidered with the frogs from Dakota, then I used the Twist and Turn pattern by Sharyn Craig.

Sun Burst Wallhanging - A Ssall wall hanging with triangles on a block with a small yoyo in the center. I used the Viking Designer SE, stitch E26 ( I increased the width of stitch to max) to quilt it. This is a stippling stitch.

Heartsong - Four hearts with large angel's trumpets flowers set between them. Ribbons flow around the hearts and flowers. Begun after I attended Ricky's seminar where he demonstrated how to design Rhapsody quilts.

Road2CA New York Beauty - My girlfriend and I went to R2CA and bought the foundations for this and then found great fabric. We went back across the street to our hotel room an proceeded to stay up half the night drinking wine, cutting and piecing these blocks. It was the most fun. I found a great batik in my stash when I got home for the backing. I am still quiltng it but it should be done soon.
Mardi Gras Quilt

Mardi Gras Quilt - Fabric squares of Mardi Gras masks with plain blocks of various colors. Mardi Gras masks are quilted around with a renaissance pattern quilted in plain blocks. Thread used is gold variegated metallic. Backing is diamond pattern with matching colors of mask blocks. Bobbin thread was purple cotton.

Pineapple Swirl - I took third place at a local quilt show. This will be my one and only pineapple quilt because of the time it took to piece it together. I love to longarm quilt but rather make quilts that go together fast.
