Lifedance
Name of Maker: ckbellneville
Lifedance - While on safari in Kenya, I was struck by the intricate and eternal dance of life and death between predator and prey. To depict that in this quit, I overlapped zebra stripes and giraffe spots in the middle and surrounded this prey with the tracks of the big cats: lion, leopard and cheetah. I then added the bones of their prey scattered about as we found them on the savannah. Hand-dyed cotton, cotton thread, wool and poly-cotton batting, Shiva paint stiks.
Give Thanks
Name of Maker: LVCindy
Give Thanks - I REALLY like Cynthia England's "Picture Piecing" although it's not everyone's cup of tea. It can be a bit hard to find great Thanksgiving-themed; this one spoke to me. I tried a little trapunto in the letters to make them puff out more, but it's hard to tell that it's there. Oh, well, nothing ventured, nothing gained! I was happy with the touch of fabric paint on corn and pears, giving them just a bit more dimension. This time: ventured and gained!
Cockscombs, Tulips and Berries
Name of Maker: Eleanor
Cockscombs, Tulips and Berries - This quilt is one of my favorites. Most of my quilts are given as gifts, but this one is mine. I found the pattern in a book I had purchased and I just had to make it. The background fabric is a tone on tone print of pomegranates. I loved this piece of fabric and knew it was best used in large pieces. I also had fun collecting blue fabrics that would work with the focus fabric. Techniques used are needle turned applique, reverse applique, machine piecing and machine quilting. The beautiful free form quilting on the background was done by Ruth Stonesifer. I did the quilting within the applique pieces.
Treasure Chest by Quilt in a Day
Name of Maker: Isabellet.
Treasure Chest by Quilt in a Day - This was a free download pattern that I used to sharpen my quilting technique. I had to add four squares to get it large enough for my son's King size bed. I used wool batting and free motion quilted it myself. I used a stitch in the ditch for the boarders around each square.
Hero Star
Name of Maker: Leann McClain

Hero Star - This is a Quilt of Valor I created from my improvisational "Star and Points Spinning in a Square". I used 100% quilter's cotton Valor fabric, 80/20 Hobbs batting, Omni poly wrapped poly by Superior Threads for the longarm. Design is totally 6" squares and half square triangles.
