Batik Leaves
Name of Maker: Janis Salcfas
Batik Leaves - I made this quilt for my husband's co-worker, Bruce, so he could give it to his wife, Terri for her birthday. When he asked me to make a quilt, I showed him a number of different patterns and this is the one he chose. I had less than one month to get this quilt done. Not an easy feat since the leaves are all curved piecing. But I did it...with three days to spare! I enjoyed making this quilt, but I would do the quilting differently if I were going to make it for myself, and had more time. Since I didn't have a lot of time, I just put this quilt on my Hinterberg Machine Quilting Frame with my Janome 1600 and did an all-over loopty-loop design in the solid areas, and some pointed leaf designs in the leaves. This quilt is going to be used in their motor home, and the rustic, earthy colors are just perfect for that purpose.
