In the beginning - Salmon 1
Name of Maker: Alice Klassen
In the beginning - Salmon 1 - Quilt was made in late 2006 for the Pacific Salmon Foundation spring fund raiser auction in Victoria, BC, held in February of 2007. It sold for $300, and was donated back to the foundation to be re-sold at a later function. Designed and made by Alice, it includes photo transfer techniques, raw edge applique, couching and using many unusual materials for the joining, including the driftwood hanger.

Triangle Terpsichord
Name of Maker: Sandi Harrah
Triangle Terpsichord - This was a kit purchased from Keepsake Quilting in 1993, right after I began quilting. It was a very challenging project for a beginning quilter, and I faltered when I couldn't get the border to fit. When I came back to it 9 years later the border when together so easily! It's amazing how much I learned in all those years!
Go Towards the Light
Name of Maker: Marilyn Altenbach
Go Towards the Light - I took a "fish class" and decided to really go all out in beading it up. There is no netting holding everything in place it's all hand beeded. Loved doing it!
Bright Butterflies
Name of Maker: Barb Bryson
Bright Butterflies - Pattern showed a more traditional coloring....light background with pastel zig-zags. I used a bold, butterfly print on a block background, and the zig-zags are some of the bright colors found in the print.
Here Kitty

Here Kitty - First time doing a raggedy edge quilt. Was nice to have each block finished and quilted as it was assembled.
Peace and Love
Name of Maker: Marilyn Altenbach
Peace and Love - I made this mini quilt for my mom for Christmas. It is machine quilted and is needle-turned in both the reverse and regular style of hand applique. I quilted the Kanji "Love" into the upper right corner of the quilt.

Calico Cat and Gingham Dog
Name of Maker: Carolyn
Calico Cat and Gingham Dog - I made a cloth book for the center and wrote the poem. It also serves as my quilt label.
“Amy & Sara’s Mondegreen”
Name of Maker: Jennilyn
“Amy & Sara’s Mondegreen” - “…cherish virtue…” My sister-in-laws grew up convinced that meant, “Cherries HURT YOU!” and would not eat cherries. A misheard lyric is a Mondegreen. Origins: For many years she had misunderstood the last line of the Scottish folk ballad "The Bonny Earl of Murray," which reads: And they laid him on the Green. Ms. Sylvia Wright misheard as: And Lady Mondegreen.
All Sports in the Whole World
Name of Maker: GloriaH
All Sports in the Whole World - I told Mike I was making a quilt with all the sports in the whole world for him.
“Converging With Curves”
Name of Maker: Jennilyn
“Converging With Curves” - Ricky Tims workshop started this piece. I added a curved convergence attic-window-style to make it bigger. I think a great quilt always has a bit of orange in it somewhere!
Breaking the Block
Name of Maker: Ellen Smith
Breaking the Block - The title refers to a design block, resizing blocks within the quilt many times and finally, the curved bias strips which gave motion, really breaking up the blocks.
Pink Lemonade
Name of Maker: Mary Anne Williams
Pink Lemonade - When I saw this quilt in Eleanor's book, I immediately thought of my Mother-in-Law. The colors are Betty's favorite, so I shopped around to find the exact fabrics. She loves it!
“Background Check”
Name of Maker: Jennilyn
“Background Check” - I haven’t done a self-portrait in years, waiting for the exercised and skinny ME to come out of hiding. I stopped waiting, had my husband trace my body as is, and then I painted in the face, and wrote a beginning of an autobiography in the background.
Earthstones
Name of Maker: Ellen Smith
Earthstones - Look into a stream. The colors of the rocks are varied and beyond what you would expect.
“The Power of Suggestion”
Name of Maker: Jennilyn
“The Power of Suggestion” - So is this a red quilt or a green quilt? In psychology, the Stroop effect is a demonstration of interference in the reaction time of a task. When a word such as blue, green, red, etc. is printed in a color differing from the color expressed by the word's semantic meaning (e.g. the word "red" printed in blue ink), a delay occurs in the processing of the word's color, leading to slower test reaction times and an increase in mistakes. The effect is named after its discoverer, John Ridley Stroop. quoted from Wikipedia= a Web-based free-content encyclopedia project. Snakes, children holding hands, vines and leaves are quilted into the pattern. Spray paint over letters and lace make the words, cheater flying geese form the borders.
