My Stained Glass Quilt
Name of Maker: shirmoor
My Stained Glass Quilt - This took over 2 years, working on it off-and-on. It started with a single pillow, to see if it could be done. It grew!
Dana's Trip
Name of Maker: shirmoor
Dana's Trip - I just wanted to see if I could do this traditional pattern, and I love it!
Krazy Kats, Klowning Around
Name of Maker: Alice Baird
Krazy Kats, Klowning Around - Great Nephew Wyatt Mogelson's nursery had a circus theme in blues and greens. I found this fabric featuring clown cats and surrounded the blocks with crazy quilt blocks. As usual, this quilt was quilted by Judy Steward.
Blueberry Bear Claws
Name of Maker: Alice Baird
Blueberry Bear Claws - I simplified a Marsha McCloskey wallhanging as a wedding gift for Sally Shuffield and her husband Mike. Sally is the daughter of my former college roommate. She is a professional singer and a lover of hiking and all outdoor activities connected with Colorado. I thought this block was appropriate for her. I found the fabric in Alaska, while on a cruise with my husband and her parents. It was the first quilt of mine quilted by a wonderful Waco machine quilter, Judy Steward, without whom I could not complete any quilts!
Turkey in Autum
Name of Maker: Jette Williams
Turkey in Autum - This is a turkey in Autom. He is standing there looking at all the leaves faling. The quilt has traponto. And is hand and mashine quilted.
Christmas Quilt
Name of Maker: Amanda Marie
Christmas Quilt - I learned hand quilting first and this was my first machine piecing effort. I went to a class while on vacation in San Diego.
Tiffany Star
Name of Maker: Amanda Marie
Tiffany Star - I went to one of Debby Kratovil's classes in Atlanta. I quilted it using a template made from a colleague's Tiffany paperweight using variegated thread. It has minimal quilting but is only a small wall hanging. And the binding is spiral binding using all the fabric. I use spiral binding fairly often on my quilts.
Months of the Year
Name of Maker: Amanda Marie
Months of the Year - This was featured on one of Alex's programs. Very easy but labor intensive. I did minimal machine quilting but the one on the program website has gorgeous quilting features. I did not repeat any fabric in the 76 or so pieces in the border - I put all the pieces in a paper bag and pulled them out randomly.
Through Grandmother's Window
Name of Maker: Amanda Marie
Through Grandmother's Window - 12 years in the making - primarily because I kept leaving it for 2 to 3 years at a time! A lot of hand appliquee and it needs more hand quilting in the borders but after 12 years I had had enough and needed my frame for my next project. I don't know why I made it so big - I would suggest cutting each block smaller and using narrower sashing; and not having such a wide border.
Ribbon Quilt
Name of Maker: Amanda Marie
Ribbon Quilt - Very quick and easy, using partial seam construction. The pattern has "back art" where you piece together large pieces of the five fabrics to make a really interesting backing. I used bali fabrics.
Kaleidoscope
Name of Maker: Amanda Marie
Kaleidoscope - Based on Fons & Porter's Quilter's Complete Guide. I wanted to remind myself how to make basic block patterns and like they did for their book I stitched them all together. My one "rule" was not to buy any new fabric so the entire quilt is made from existing scraps which is why there is no color scheme.
Winter Encounter
Name of Maker: Carol Ann Sinnreich
Winter Encounter - Snow, cold wind, predators and opportnuity force wildlife to keep moving. Winter scenes are more colorful. Reflective light from snow creates a multitude of colors setting the mood and the challenge.
Strawberry Meadow Lily
Name of Maker: gloria g. Walls
Strawberry Meadow Lily - I loved Lynnette Jensen's design, but since I make quilts with strawberries, I just used totally scraps for this quilt.
