I Thee Wed - I loved the fun spirit of the birthday cake I saw in the McCalls pattern. It spurred me on to think of other happy cakes. Who knew you could use your printer to write messages on fabric?
Baby Quilt #2 - This is from a panel - I cut apart the pictures, then sewed blocks around them. The hard part was that the pictures were not square! Made from flannel, and given to a co-worker.
Fresh Catch - This art quilt is an image of the 4th Avenue beach in front of my family's home in Bradley Beach, New Jersey. It is entirely pieced except for the sun and fishing pole.
Amazon Tailspin - Stack, slice & dice the fabric repeats. The skewed setting accentuates the "spinning tail feathers". And the variegated feather quilting contributes to the "tailspin" effect.
Evolution - My first Hoffman Challenge entry. My first paper piecing. Follow the geese "arrows"...you'll see there is no end to this evolutionary cycle. The 3D "rooster tail" geese were a fun experiment.
Quilt for Kyle - I started this quilt before my 13 yr old son was born. I did his nursery in a Noah's Ark theme and loved the 3 dimensional quality of the blocks. I don't remember where I got the ark block pattern but all of the animals came from the Possibilities T.L.C. book by Toni Phillips and Juanita Simonich. Another project I plan to finally finish in 2008!
Fan-Shui - My 4th fan sampler, used to teach a fan series for my local guild. All fan blades fussy-cut from one Hoffman print, the 1999 Hoffman Challenge fabric...bought fabric in 1999, started blocks in 2003, finished in 2004.
Memories of Margaret - I'm sorry but I don't remember the exact name of this quilt block or where I got it. I made it after my aunt passed away. All hearts are made from her old dresses. As always, I became frustrated when trying to quilt it so it is still unfinished. My goal is to complete it in 2008 and give it to her daughter when done.
The Queen's Morning Stretch - The guild challenge was to change this block...stretch it, twist it, curve it, whatever. The challenge fabric was the green "tie dye" stripe used for the triangles and border.
Trust Me - Sample for a mystery quilt class I taught for my guild. I convinced 16 quilters to "Trust me, you will love this quilt." And they did. Eighteen fat 1/4's, endless setting solutions.
Quilter's Basket - I used to work at JoAnn's, and have several of their BOMs. This one is actually hanging on my living room wall- I needed something BIG to take up all that space. It is one of the first quilts I completed on the long-arm machine in '06.
A Quilter's Garden - I did this quilt in a block-of-the-month class at my local quilt shop. The class was back in 2001-2002. I finally finished it in time to give away for Christmas this year.
