Waiting - Made for SAQA's Anniversary Trunk Show. Juried into the permanent collection of the National Quilt Museum, Paducah. Original photo layers with image of deconstructed screen printed fabric, printed on silk.
Underground Railroad - A very beautiful pattern which tells the story of the Underground Railroad with quilt blocks. Each block has a story. It is made with very small pieces, machine pieced together. The final block is the story of the quilt and explains each block. This was a very challenging quilt but a great piece to have finished. It is one of my favorites.
Mountain Sunset - This was my first king sized quilt after I discovered quilting in 2005. I had it professionally quilted by Diane at Quilters Garden in Anaheim Ca. I used beige tone on tone for the backround fabric and Keepsake calico fabrics in greens and pink/burgandy for the mountains. I extended the drop approximately 3 inches more then the pattern called for.
Rose in Bloom - Rose in Bloom was based on a photo of a Queen Elizabeth rose that has been blooming faithfully in my garden for many, many years. I continue to explore the process of creating art quilts from my photos.
Detail: The Circle of Life - This Quilt shows the ups & downs of life: The giraffe & the elephant's car crash. The puppy represents new life. The heart shaped broach represents Love. I collected "circle" fabric for a long time; slices of oranges & lemons, a variety of balls, and wheels.
Brett's wedding - Made queen size for grandsons wedding with baby photos for him and, at the time it was made, baby photos of his wife to all the way through child hood, teen years as they dated each other until their wedding tried to resemble shadow box pictures
Sunset Row on Broad Creek II - This quilt is the second that I've made from a picture I am using with the permission of my friend Deb Esposito. Deb and I owned a scull together and love to row on the Broad Creek which winds its way up the middle of Hilton Head Island. I printed the picture using Spoonflower.com and then densely quilted it so that all you see is the thread that I used. It has a wonderful shimmer based on the shine of the embroidery thread.
Daddy's Girl at Sunrise - This is my second quilt from a picture I took last year. The first was true to the original picture that was taken on an October afternoon. I decided to do a series from the picture. Using pictures that I took at sunrise from the same beach, I dyed the sky using Inktense chalk sticks and used Angelina to light up the sky and water. Yes it really does look like that.
Harvest of Hope - I designed this quilt definitely with Autumn in mind. I incorporated all my favorite colors and applique blocks that have significance to the harvest.
Beloved Beauties - This was the BOM for 2011 from the Quilt Show...."Ruffled Roses" by Sue Garman. This is my adaptation of it. Most of the fabric was "Beloved Beauties" by Elly Sienkiewicz.
Softly Grow the Lilies - This quilt consists of photos from my garden printed on fabric. It is a finalist in the New Quilts from Old Favorites and will travel with the exhibit for the next year.
Kelmscott quilt - Ive just finished this quilt. It's taken 5 months to make. I have used 3,000m of Rayon thread. Techniques I have used are machine appliqué and free hand machine quilting.
