Fall Rhapsody - I wanted to try Ricki Tim's technique for conversion quilt and thougth I would add applique and name as a gift for my dog sitter, Nita Delgado. Her dachshund, Penny is pictured on the quilt.
Pokanik Convergence - This is my son David's 'going away to college' quilt. I figure I am ahead of the game because he is only a junior in college! Pokonik means 'until (we meet again)' in Russian. It is a true Fibonacci sequence in the light sections.
Yellow Daylily One - I love Ruth McDowell's designs and fabric choices and I enjoyed learning and practicing her piecing technique so much, I made three of the daylilies from her book, Pieced Flowers.
Here's one of them.
Licorice Star Garden - I was inspired by some beautiful toille fabrics and some Liberty hand dyed greens. The background is a bargello variation and the "flowers" are original designs inspired by many great quilters.
Improvisation I - I was intrigued by Vikki Pignatelli's quilting technique shown on The Quilt Show, and I purchased her book. This quilt is my first experimentation with her technique.
Kaleidoscope - Ricky Tims taught a class in Durango, Colorado on the Kaleidoscope quilt. This quilt is a result of that class plus an extensive amount of beading.
Just a Panel - I bought this panel that was suppose to be a small wall hanging. I then proceeded to cut it up and add borders. It turned out absolutely beautifully.
Kathy Heystee - I used the Bento Box pattern and then designed my own borders. The quilt is done in asia themed prints. The borders have words in Chinese using red embroidery floss. The quilt is quilted with red thread and the Chinese words are interpretted in English in the quilting. I was very excited that one of my Chinese friends could actually read the words I had in embroidery.
Spring Flowers - This is a broderie perse medallion quilt. I took a class from Judy Severson and learned this technique. The applique and quilting are both done by hand.
Sweetwater Sampler - These blocks came from the 1st East Tennessee Shop Hop. I picked out the fabric colors for a local quilt shop and made the sample. There were 20 kits sold.
30s Saturday Sampler - This quilt was a Saturday Sampler. I created the setting, super simple because I knew that I wanted to scallop the border, talk about fun, I love it.
Miss Teruya's Bears - The bear is the school mascot at my granddaughter's elementary school. Her kindergarten class colored the "bear" drawings I provided on fabric squares. I pieced and machine quilted it using the school color and mascot. The quilt will be hung in the classroom and later sold at silent auction as a fundraiser.
Tyger Quilt - Irregular shaped images from fronts of t-shirts creating a challenge to bring together in this quilt. The color mats around each standardize them to make them easier to bring together.
Lucy in the Sky - I started with a photo of dogwood that my father took. I then kalideoscoped it with Paint Shop Pro and printed my favorite ones on fabric. Those were then made into a quilt that I embellishd with crystals. It reminded me of the Beatles old song "Lucy in the Sy with Diamonds" thus the name!
The Twins - These are a pair of quilts that I purchased at my friend's shop - Donna Bacon in Kennett Square, PA. I love these quilts -- I call them the twins. The quilting is superb! The butterflies are hand appliqued with hand satin stitching.
