And They Waited
Name of Maker: Enice Burke
And They Waited - I made this quilt for my husband who served as an F-4 pilot in the Marines and in honor of his uncle Jack Burke and his father Robert Burke who were a B-24 pilot and B-29 bombarider in WW-II. Jack was shot down and lost at sea in Kobe Bay, Japan on March 17. 1945. St. Patricks Day. There are several pictures incorporated in the quilt of the air planes that each man flew, of each of the men, their family home, Jack's crew (that were all killed that day) and even a map showing where they were shot down. I used home spun and regular cotton. The designer of the quilt is Veda Wilhite. I had to make a few changes, but her book is great.
