kookaburra - Made at a two day workshop with Caroline Sharkey last weekend. She's an inspirational teacher and makes wonderful picture quilts -checkout the Australian outback at www.carolinesharkey.com I'd taken a photograph of a kookaburra and translated it into this wallhanging. I'm thrilled that I made this just from snippets of fabric scraps.

North To Alaska - For several years, I had the opportunity to work summers in Fairbanks. I collected fabrics each summer mostly panels and fat quarters that would tuck neatly into my suitcase. This quilt was made with a panel purchased in Alaska.

Star Light, Star Bright - Little brothers can't be left out. This lap quilt was made with the leftovers of Follow the Stars Home. Just the right size to snuggle under and watch the stars from his bedroom window. It gave me another chance to practice my machine quilting and boy do I need the practice!

Mello Yello - Made for 2007 Miniature Color Challenge of Folsom Quilt & Fiber Guild. My color was yellow. Appliquéd paper-cut figure.

When I am Old - A gift for a family member, the label on this one includes a copy of the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph printed on the fabric and appliquéd in the bottom corner. The famous first line, "When I am old I shall wear purple" embodies the philosophy of many of us not so old ladies.

Double Wedding Ring - This is a treasure found at a garage sale. It looks like 1930s fabric to me, but I'm not an expert. The batting feels like wool.

Amish Baskets for Tim - Tim loves purple so baskets were set with this color.

Follow the Stars - This is a graduation gift for my nephew. The title comes from the many star prints in the quilt. By following the stars, he'll always know the way home no matter how far he journeys.

Affairs of the Heart - Appliqued Hearts and florals intertwine on a dark background to produce a kaleidoscope of color. Each of the 36 blocks contains a heart motif.

Uncommon Valor - She represents Middle Eastern women who have been given the right to vote. She proudly displays her ink-stained thumb showing she's taken the step to determine the future for her and her children.

Kings Crow - This wall hanging was given to the Professor who mentored my husband through his education. The flowers on the wall hanging are 3D flowers. And the 4 blocks in the middle of the quilt have traponto in them

Folkloric Ballet Dancers - Folkloric ballet dancers dance a passionate dance as she swirls her red skirt and he kicks out his leg embellished with machine embroidery.
