When Alice Was Big
Name of Maker: Sue Laughton
When Alice Was Big - 2008 TLC Quilters Guild Challenge for "Alice in Quilterland" show. Challenge fabric is the curtains on the quilt. We had to make any size & style quilt fitting the show theme. After reading Lewis Carroll's book, I decided to show the inside of the house Alice looked into when she was BIG! I started with the couch, then the couch quilt. That quilt is painted on PFD fabric with Pigma & Tsukineko pens, then quilted in place on the couch. The wallhanging quilt is actually a separate quilt, hanging from a 'rod' made from a twisted silver floral wire (as are the curtains). "Alice" looking thru' the window is portrayed by my friend Mallory, printed on a June Taylor Colorfast inkjet fabric sheet. The disappearing Cheshire Cat is stuffed & was drawn with a Pigma pen. I really had a lot of fun with this & am very happy with my results!
Dimensions
Name of Maker: LeAnn Harner
Dimensions - I was participating in an on-line challenge to try something new with my sewing machine. I was fascinated with fabric folding and came up with this design where every single section is folded fabric, sewn in place, so there's a lot of dimension when you see it in person. This hasn't been quilted - yet.
