A Stitch in Time - My first attempt at paper piecing - nothing like trying a new technique in an "advanced" level project - but all turned out better then I had hoped - couldn't believe how the quilt looks so real in the old featherweight!
New Years Black Tie 2008 - I made this quilt with blocks received from a block swap with quilters I met here on TQS. I love black and white fabrics and have been collecting them since I started quilting.
Multnomah Falls, Oregon - Quilt postcard of Multnomah Falls, Oregon. Raw edge applique; satin stitched edges. Embellished with Angelina and rayon threads.
Canyon Secrets - 1/2 squares arranged to simulate SW canyon. Embellishments include use of purchased petroglyph stamps, and free-motion embroidery of petroglyphs from stamps and personal photos.
Cheryl's Honu (turtle) - Made as gift for friend we stayed with when visiting Hilo, Hawaii. Woven background from gradated color strips; raw edge applique, free-motion embroidery of original designs and designs by Laura Lee Fritz. Embellished w/beads, ribbons, seastar, and 3D fused cloth to represent seaweeds.
My Parents' 50th Anniversary Quilt - The embroidered squares on this quilt were made by my Great Aunt Erma. I digitized the design and stitched it on blocks that also had photos of each of my siblings and our families. My parents' wedding invitation and photo, and a current photo are in the center.
Stitches away from Happiness - Stitches away from Happiness is a tumbling block pattern made with three diamonds sewed with the Y. Seam. I quilted each block in the ditch then feathers on each diamond. I Rolled my pants legs up and I dove in!!!
Happy Baskets - A Block of the month from my favorite quilt shop, now closed. Instead of batting, I used white flannel to make it a summer weight quilt. It's quite large and looks really nice on our king bed. This is the 4th quilt I've made with 30's and 40's reproductions and I'm not done with them yet! Scalloping the border was my own idea and I love how it turned out. I used a varigated Superior thread for the machine quilting. On the borders, I used Quilting by the Roll. Very fun!
Christmas Stars - The quilt group I belong to (called "The Quilt Cult") did a block of the month a couple of years ago. We took turns selecting a star pattern and printing up directions for everyone to make. I made mine out of Christmas Fabrics. Finally finished it so it can be crossed off the UFO list! Used "Triangulations" method of printing, then sewing on paper to make the quarter-square blocks in the setting---very accurate and FUN! The setting was a free pattern design on the Triangulations dvd. Border quilted with free-form feathers from Patsy Thompson's dvd.
Against the Odds - This quilt was made for the 2007 " A page from my Book" Journal quilts for Quilts Inc. It went to a few shows in the last year and now has found its way back home. I really loved doing this quilt.
Duckies - My latest contribution to 'Cops for Cancer' 2008. Every year a team of cops ride their bikes from the lower mainland up the Fraser Valley raising money for cancer. Our guild makes a quilt for each of the kids they are riding for. The officers give their buddy a quilt at the beginning of the ride.

Batik Star - I was inspired by the quilt behind Alex in the LeMoyne Star lessons. The batik has many colors that made this a good project to use up some of my stash
