Lisa's Quilt - Turning Twenty pattern was for my daughter Lisa. She wanted a summer quilt that was done in the colors of her bedroom. A mixture of rose and green colors.
Play Mat - Play mat for my two grandchildren. First time of stippling. I wanted the quilt to be bright and colourful which I think I have acheived. It is now in New Zealand being used every day.
Starry Starry Night - I was inspited to make this wall hanging having seen many photos of quilts with stained glass windows. It is s Quilt as you go method starting off with 6" squares using the strip method. I zig zagged the squares together and then cut the shape of the winodw. I couched purples cord to make the windows and covered the window with organza and stiched in place. I used silver metallic thread to give a stary like sky.
Mystical and Magical - I was inspired by "Log Cabin with a Twist" by Barbara Kaepfer and came up with this original design. Hand dyed fabrics with black homespun.
Family Resemblance - I did this piece as encouragement to students to JUST TRY IT! This was a royalty free clip art countour drawing for which i net. searched for animal coloring tips. I first thought the highly wrinkled bulldog was the mom ( I was getting angry) but later learned this was 3 generations of english bulldogs. Way FUN!
Butterflies - A friend wanted a "pink butterfly" quilt for a new grandbaby, this was what I came up with. I used Marti Michell's hexagon template and it went together like a dream! I machine appliqued a few butterflies on the top for added dimension. I really enjoyed making this quilt and it was difficult to part with it.
Pharaoh's Eye - Saw Susan Cleveland on TQS demonstrating her Piping Hot Curves & just had to have a go. Used Cherrywood Hand Dyed Fabrics - wonderful fabrics.
Dreamtime Spirits - Quilt started in a workshop run by my local quilt group given by Christine Porter based on her 'Porters Puzzle' Block from her book Tessellation Quilts.
Beachcomber - My 2nd Harmonic Convergence Quilt. A reminder of holidays spent in the Maldives. Used Hand Dyed fabric & shells & coral gathered on the beach.
Hong Kong Memories - Quilt to remind me of a wonderful 5 days spent in Hong Kong. Used 'oriental' fabrics that I had in my stash. Gold paint applied as per the Kemshalls book.
