Baby Cube - I designed this quilt for the Fons and Porter baby quilt contest in the fall of 2007. I never finished it in time to submit to the contest, I finally finished it this summer.
Baby strings - I started just making some string blocks on a muslin back ground. But I didn't like the quilt made with just the squares. So I cut them all in half and turned them into half square triangles. Then I just started playing with them until I came up with what you see here.
Embroidered Wedding Ring - My second embroidered quilt. I did this following a bit of instruction in our Embroidery Club. It took a long time to stitch out those 64 blocks but I really like it. It hangs in my dd's bedroom.
Nayeli's First Quilt - Hearts created with sqs of Peridot Grn Fabrics. The backing is peridot grn Minki. Nayeli is my first Granddaughter. Her name started out to be Peridot "Perri" and was changed to Nayeli (I Love You) in the Native American Language.
Girl Quilt for Olivia - I made this for my new great-niece Olivia in June 2008. She was born in April 2008 to my nephew & his wife whom I love dearly.
I also did another quilt just like this one for another great-niece Lucy born to another nephew and his wife.
I love this new generation! Just wish I could see them more often.
Allison's Quilt - I found the pattern in a magazine but don't remember which one. The quilt was made to comfort a friend going through chem and radiation for breast cancer. She is doing well now.
Sunny, Sunny Day - I learned to paint fabrics in a workshop by Phil Beaver. All the fabric used was handpainted by me. The design elements are his patterns and I put it together and did all the machine quilting and thread painting.
You make a better door.......... - The challenge was to use a door or window in the quilt and I couldn't think of anything until my daughter reminded me that every time one of the kids stood in front of the TV I hollered - "You make a better door than a window!!!". My kids are all grown now - but what a memory......
Patience is a Virtue - This was a Saturday Sampler from my LQS. The alternate blocks were based on the Millenium Sampler designed by Patchwork Studio. I quilted it on my HQ16 - it was TOUGH, because the quilt is queen sized (about 108 inches square) and my table will only allow about 7 feet (84 inches) of width. Hence, the name.
Explore Space - I made this quilt for and it was accepted into the IQA's Sky's The Limit exhibit for 2008. It will be hanging in Houston this year. It will also be exhibited at the Chicago and Long Beach quilt shows in 2009. I'm guessing on the size, because I do not currently have the quilt in my possession.
Magnolias at Twilight - I was inspired by a Judy Mathieson Mariner's Compass class and modified one of her patterns for the center. I didn't want to set it in a square, so I hand and machine appliqued the background around the star.
Blew Mune Kafae' - This quilt is traveling with other quilts thru out Michigan. They travel for two years to hospitals, libraries, museums, etc. The 2006 theme was "outer space". This is my vision of buildings on the moon....
Denise's Violet Rose Sampler - This quilt was given to my daughter on Mother's Day 2008. Her favorite color is purple and she treasures this beautiful heirloom from her mom, Barb Siefker.
Victorian Thistle - I made this quilt for an ugly duckling challenge where you were given a brown bag with 4 yards of material. The top of the quilt had to comprise 75% of that fabric. (I'm approximating the dimensions.)
