Kim Sartain - My mother-in-law was taking a quilt class and showed me her blocks-in-progress so I decided to take one too. This is the result of my first quilt class - I was hooked!
Underwater Window - This is a work-in-progress - quilt top is complete and deciding on embellishment now. I made the convergence quilt from two batiks - one mostly blue and one mostly green, and plan to embellish it with appliqued undersea "plants", fish and bubbles from buttons and beads.
Family - This is from a quilt class I took on foundation piecing. Each corner block is embroidered with the first name of one of our family and the center block with our family surname.
Understory - Art in Nature - Understory - Art in Nature, Photo by Margi Young in November 2010. Northcliffe, Western Australia has a marvelous art instillation in the forest - a must see! I used inks, sequins and hot fix crystals as well as embroidered pine leaves made separately and then quilten on to achieve this quilt.
Parade of Flowers - I designed this quilt with the fabric in mind. I love the orange and pink against the black background. It really makes the flowers stand out.
Floral Delight - This quilt was designed to showcase a large print. The fabric I used was Benartex Flower Show II. I created the design for my neightbor and knew it would work well when I saw the Benartex line.
Swan quilt for Mrs. Slosser - I was asked to make a quilt from a very well loved, tattered and torn quilt. This new quilt was going to a great grandchild. I was unable to obtain the old pattern, therefore much care was taken to generate a pattern from the old quilt. When it was completed everyone was excited and very greatful. I am glad that I was able to bring old memories back to a family. If anyone knows where this pattern originated please let me know at info@BayColonyDesigns.com so that credit can be given.
Twilight Tales Of Two Twisted Sisters - Memories of my sister and I staying out too late at night, getting into mischief, taking our shoes off to run through town and home quickly in the wee hours. Mom is secretly watching over us....Dresses are made from fabrics of dresses were have worn during our party nights :)
hummingbirds and fuchsia - this quilt was one of several made from my favorite "i hate to cut it" fabric. It is great to cuddle under in our cold drab winter days.
