Two Steppin - Appliqued Cowboy boots on various blue backgrounds. Entirely handquilted & embellished with suade trim and buttons. Inspiration was my "Urban Cowboy" days and memories of two stepping on the dance floor.
House in the Hills - Created for the Grab Bag swap (old bag o' stuff challenge) from www.quiltart.com.
I used all kinds of glass beads for the roofs of the homes, and all the work is hand done.
Black and Taupe - I had unfortunately torn out the medallion design from a magazine and didn't make note of where it is from, I think perhaps Quilters Newsletter, but am not sure.
Thumbelina - Thumbelina is based on Hans Christian Andersons fairytale. She is machine quilted, but all hand beaded over hand applique. She was created in the center using threadpainting.
Tristan Grace's First Quilt - This is the quilt I made for my daughter when she entered the 2 year-old room at daycare. Three years later, it is still one of her favorite things to snuggle up with.
Organza Breeze - Shot organza over black felt, stitched and burned, with small areas of angelina. 5 banner pieces, made for Loch Lomond Quilt Show 2006, Moving Parts competition.
Aura - My interpretation in fabric of a migraine aura, made for Loch Lomond Quilt Show 2006, competition Northern Lights. Black cotton, angelina, stewart Gill fabric paints, machine quilted.
The Critter Quilt - Designed by Kay McCarthy based on Bill Stones' song A PLACE IN THE CHOIR. Hand appliqued and hand quilted. Some of the animals are made to represent my pets and my daughters. The bee's wings are made from scraps from my daughter's wedding veil. This was made for my daughter's first baby, McKenna.
Great Wall of Fabric - For our shop's 2006 Shop Hop - we were doing an "international" theme and our shop got China. Our owner, Mary C, thought it would be great to have "The Great Wall of Fabric". Knowing I like doing landscape type quilts, she asked me to do it. I think she loved it. I was about 90% happy with the way it turned out. I don't take great photos - so this is sort of crooked and I had to crop out my daughter's hands and bedroom.
No Time To Waste - The courage of the Pony Express riders inspired me to capture in fabric the energy and excitement felt by the men and animals as each rider approached a station
Watchful - Dogs’ expressive nature has great appeal for me. Their tendency to remain focused on a job is one of their strengths. This one waits diligently for the return of its master.
