Memories of Summer
Name of Maker: Naomi Weidner
Memories of Summer - The center of this quilt is 1/2 squares made from 2" squares. I used free motion stitching to depict the sun, shells, seaweeds, and dolphins and other marine life. I adapted free motion designs from Laura Lee Fritz designs and by Mickey Depre in Cyncy Rymer's Shoreline Quilts book, as well as my own designs. Other embellishments include thread-painted turtle, jelly fish and sailboats, 3-dimensional seaweed, ribbon, glass beads, and found objects (star fish and coral).
Liquid Nature
Name of Maker: Juli Shulem
Liquid Nature - My first quilt of the type. Since it was also the largest quilt I had made as of then, I didn't know how to quilt it on my Bernina tabletop, so I hired a fabulous quilter I met in Petaluma to do it and she did a marvelous job. The entire quilt was done in a month over summer. Mostly Batiks - my favorite.

Dancing Leaves
Name of Maker: Juli Shulem
Dancing Leaves - This is the BACK detail of the first image shown of Dancing Leaves. Each block was individually created by doing applique for the leaves, then individually quilting each block (49 of them) and finally assembling each from the back only with hand-binding so all lines are completely straight and lined-up.
Bridge over Troubled Water
Name of Maker: Juli Shulem
Bridge over Troubled Water - This started with a panel piece with sky and water and trees. I added the remaining parts to create this bridge scene. It was my first landscape quilt and it was for a local guild Challenge with the theme of "Music," so I selected the song "Bridge over Troubled Water." It tied for 4th place.
SIMPLY STRIPPY
Name of Maker: GAYLE COWDIN & DEBBIE OLIVE
SIMPLY STRIPPY - MY VERY BEST FRIEND MADE THE STRIP BLOCK THEN I ADDED THE CORNERS AND BORDERS. I WAS SO SURPRIZED AND TOUCHED THAT SHE WOULD TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE THESE BLOCKS FOR ME SO I HURRIED UP AND FINISHED THE QUILT. WE ARE USING IT IN OUR QUILT SHOP PRESENTLY AS A SAMPLE BUT I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO GET IT HOME
STAR OF WONDER QUILT
Name of Maker: GAYLE COWDIN
STAR OF WONDER QUILT - I CREATED THIS QUILT USING THE STAR OF WONDER PANEL FROM NANCY HALVORSEN'S CHRISTMAS COLLECTION. I WAS TRYING TO PRESERVE THE INTEGRITY OF THE PANEL SO THOUGHT I WOULD USE A STAR BLOCK PATTERN TO GO AROUND THE PANEL. THE REST JUST KIND OF FELL INTO PLACE TRYING TO MAKE EVERYTHING FIT. I THINK IT CAME OUT VERY NICELY AND IS BETTER THAN JSUT ADDING BORDERS!!

Marvin's Memory Quilt - This lap size quilt was made with Laurel Burch cat print fabric as a gift to my veterinarian who lovingly cared for my cat during his last years. It is machine pieced and quilted in a grid pattern.
