Skulls in Lava - I made this quilt for my teenage son. He found some black and white skull fabric and a Thimbleberries Christmas print he said looks like lava. The blocks are a Spiders Web block and are paper pieced.
Bernina Butterflies - My middle daughter Carly's face handpainted using the technique in my "Portrait Quilts: Painted Faces You Can Do" book. Butterflies are machine embroidered on my Bernina. Butterfly pattern available on BerninaUSA.com
Santa Fe Morning - The fabric on this quilt was fused, then free motion sewing was done. To add a little more depth, I used a built in decorative stitch around some of the areas.
Zig-zag Path - I made this bright, cheerful quilt for a child in response to the call from Quilts, Inc. to donate quilts to survivors of Hurricane Katrina in the fall of 2005.
Boys Toys - I made this for my first grandson. The blocks are paper Pieced. I backed it first with muslin and stippled around all the motifs. Then I backed it with Minkee and stitched in the ditch around the blocks and borders.
Ella Quilt - I had a friend who wanted to present another friend in Montana a baby quilt for the birth of her daughter. Purple and Pink batiks were used along with Hot pink minkee for the back. I think in all there are 45 different batiks used in this quilt. The photo does not do any justice for the beauty of this quilt. It is quilted using Sulky Metallic thread and it just glimmers with beauty!!!
Family Pictures - A teenage friend asked me to make this quilt for her Mother for Christmas 06. She selected the pictures and fabrics and I helped with the selection of the pattern.
Cheese & Crackers - The quilt was made for a member of our church who was undergoing intense treatment at MD Anderson for ovarian cancer. I constructed the quilt at a class offered at Sowing Sisters Quilt Shop in Carlsbad CA.
