Underground Railroad - The children's book, The Secret to Freedom, by Marcia Vaughn, illustrated by Larry Johnson, inspired me to make a quilt using 12 of the blocks traditionally associated with the Underground Railroad.

Hawaiian Split 9 patch - Take a 5" squares- make 9 patch then cut down the middle and across the middle. Turn each quadrant 1/4" to the right and sew it back together. Looks like you really did a lot of work. So easy a caveman could do it. (Sorry Ricky- LOL) Made this for my 41 year old son in queen size.

Journey to PhD - Karen's road to PhD traveled through California, Minnesota, New Mexico and Costa Rica. The quilt is made of of star blocks from those states plus a block of Karen's own design.

Esther's Story Quilt - Mom gave me a sack of buttons she had collected over her 95 years and suggested I do something with them. Fabric designs depicting some aspect of her life are alternated with solid color squares that bear the buttons.

Swallow Tail - I took a picture of this guy in my garden with my new SLR digital camera. I made about 5 different versions until I settled on this one. The butterfly is 3D using wire. It really was fun trying out new techniques.
