Dinner With VAn Gogh
Name of Maker: Laura Jazkowski
Dinner With VAn Gogh - This quilt was made in response to the Hoffman Challenge in 2003. The cahllenge fabric is the allover cherry design. I used Van Gogh's painting called "Cafe Terrace at Night" as my inspiration. The quilt did not receive an award but traveled in one of the Hoffman trunck shows for a year.
Tumbling Blocks
Name of Maker: Kwlt4fun
Tumbling Blocks - This is one of my favorite quilts. The purple and teal diamonds are all different fabrics, the light diamonds are repeated (approx. 10-12 fabrics). It was constructed using Sara Nephew's technique for 60 degree diamonds.
African Sampler
Name of Maker: Kwlt4fun
African Sampler - After collecting many imported African fabrics I wanted to showcase them in some way. I modified the Aloha pattern in the Quilts Sew Quick book, using smaller squares. It is truly a sampler of the fabrics I had...then. I have collected many, many more now, so they wouldn't all fit in one quilt.
Secluded Splendor
Name of Maker: Marcia H. Eygabroat
Secluded Splendor - A photograph I took is the background of this piece. The remainder is appliqué. Small pieces detail how lights and shadows play on the brick and gate.
Freedom
Name of Maker: Kwlt4fun
Freedom - The center and border fabric was found at Mary Ellen Hopkins' shop, Crazy Ladies and Friends, in Santa Monica, CA. Some of the other fabrics are from her first line of fabrics. I really like this pattern because it is great for showcasing a fabric or other design in the center.
Night and Day
Name of Maker: Kwlt4fun
Night and Day - This block was taught by a staff member at a quilt shop where I was teaching. It was my first quilt using a template!! I had only done strip pieced quilts before, but I really like the effect of this block using highly contrasting fabrics.
On the Trail
Name of Maker: Kwlt4fun
On the Trail - Made in Debbie Caffery's "Mystery in Houston" class. This was really a fun quilt to make...one I may not have tried, but it was a Mystery and I enjoyed every minute of it!
Historic Perspective
Name of Maker: Marcia H. Eygabroat
Historic Perspective - This quilt is a result of a photo. It is completely pieced with commercial cotton fabrics. The blooms on the tree are appliquéd fabric snippets. The quilting in the border is clear monofilament thread and continues the scene to the edge of this piece. One has to look very closely to notice this feature of the quilt.
Strip Bow
Name of Maker: Kwlt4fun
Strip Bow - This pattern caught my eye, but I needed to make it smaller...wanted to get it done quickly. Pattern was modified to accomplish my purpose.

Florentine Fantasy
Name of Maker: DragonLadyQuilts
Florentine Fantasy - The Florentine collection by Robert Kaufman was the inspiration for this quilt. The fabric was too beautiful to just leave in my stash. After seeing the quit top, the Director of Marketing asked whether I would be willing to write a pattern sheet based on this quilt for their Florentine collection. I was and I did, which started my budding career as a quilt pattern designer.
My Delight

My Delight - Made with Aunt Gracie's 1930 Repo fabric with 20 spokes
