I used "prom dress fabric" and a heat gun to achieve the snow, along with some sparkly fabric to enhance.  The light string is a cord with beads sewn onto it.

I love lots of color! The Macaws are perfect for a art quilt for my dinning room. This is a crazy pieced make ground The birds are raw rdge with each feather heavily quilted with embroidery threads. I used some eyelet fabrics in the face.

0tThe hand made hexies were made during hurricane Mathew on September 28th 2016 and lack of electricity.  Sitting by the light from the window, looking a the trees swaying with the wind force created by a category 4 hurricane while mumbling and complaining about my husband 's thinking that connecting the generator to the freezer was more important than mysewing machine.  Finished by machine in 2017.

Nature's. Garden was machine pieced, machine applique and machine quilted by my using my domestic machine.

This quilt was a free tutorial designed by Marlen Odie of KISS Quilts, who lives and owns a shop near Grand Coulee Dam.  She gave me lots of advice and encouragement on this quilt.  I did add the center making a mini spinner, which was paper pieced because the blades wouldn't come nicely together at the center, so this looks good too.  It was judged at the Colorado State Fair yesterday and received a first in the pieced category and a Best Use of Color award.

This quilt is inspired by a photo I took of my cat Omar.  He was resting his head on some of my colored pencils.  He seems to make himself comfortable anywhere.  I first drew out Omar onto muslin with just a pencil.  Each color was added one by one.  I filled in with more than one color of thread to give it demention.  The vase and pencils were painted on with water soluble wax pastels. 

This quilt has been accepted to IQA Houston in 2016, Road to California 2017, and AQS Paducah 2017.

This quilt was made for the Des Moines Area Quilter's Guild President's Challenge in 2012.  Techniques used are fused applique, and thread painting. The quote was painted after I created a freezer paper stencil for it. It is machine quilted.

"Deliquescence"-The act or process of deliquescing (to form many small divisions-a botanical term). Inspired by the art of Matt Shlian's Paper Sculpture- Ara 117, 2012, with permission. Machine pieced, Hand quilted, 60.5" x 68.5".

Made for our great-niece in 2014, this quilt design included lots of greens, bugs, and lovely Louisiana purple swamp iris.

Started and finished this quilt in November 2016, but had difficulty in knowing how to hang a large circular quilt.  Had about 3 suggestions from quilters, but none of them worked.  So, it sat over my stair rails until I made this decision.  Last week on August 6, 2017, I simply pinned it up with push pins, so that is how you see it in the photo.  It is large and heavy for a 5' little lady.  But looks great on my upstairs wall.

Pattern directions were easy to follow, but took a bit of time and space to put it all together.  I added the approximately 9" border and additional gold rick-rack to give the overall look a bit of a spark.  It required 6 yards of fabric plus the purchase of a 25" triangle ruler.   There are 24 panels, each 7" wide, in the main circle of the quilt.  You had to be precise in cutting to ensure proper spacing of each panel.  I wanted to have a large black background, to which I would affix the quilt, but that is another challenge I may face in the future.  Or not.

This quilt was my first foray into English paper piecing--I haven't hand-pieced a quilt in many years! It's been a fun journey, which I've been sharing with other quilters around the world who are also making the "La Passacaglia" pattern by Willyne Hammerstein. One goal of this quilt was to use only fabrics from my stash, mostly prints by Paula Nadelstern, one of my inspirations and favorite quilt and fabric designers.

My innovation on Hammerstein's design was to "unravel" the portions of the rosettes that lay outside of the rectangular perimeter of her design, rather than trim them off or applique the complete rosette to a border fabric.

This quilt was displayed at the 2017 AQS Fall Paducah show and Road to California 2018. It won First Prize in the Traditional category of the “Celebration of Color” exhibition at the 2018 International Quilt Festivals in Chicago and was also on display at the Houston International Quilt Festival in November 2018. It is currently on display in a special exhibit of English paper-pieced quilts at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, Colorado.

Hand appliqued fruits and veggies with machine pieced background and binding. Big stitch hand embroidery on applique done by Tracy.

Inspired by the birth of my three grandchildren. This is raw edge applique with double layered satin stitch to represent the lead in a stained glass window. It has hand printed and photo printed fabric in it hand embroidered stitching and 3D butterflies. Using mainly batik fabric.It was entered into the Birmingham Festival of quilts this year. Although it didn't win a prize (The winner was amazing) it fun to participate which is what quilting is all about.

13 inch square finished Sept 4, 2017. Connecting Threads pattern and fabric. Batting pieced fleece. 

I met Ricky in Paducah this year and bought some of his wonderful hand dyed fabrics. I have showcased a piece in this small quilt - it needs little quilting - it is beautiful! I created a shaded hexie tree to contrast with the hand dyed fabric using English Paper Piecing.
