Buttons and Strings - This is a string quilt that also incorporates solid blocks to emphasize the Splash of color from the String blocks. It measures 34 X 50 and is 'quilted' with hand sewn buttons throughout. Currently for sale in my Etsy store 'Katy Trail Creations'.
Jeweled Stars - I designed this quilt for the Valley of the Kings collection from Robert Kaufman. It was a beautiful way to represent the lovely fabric. It remains one of my favorite designs.
Beaver Island Waters - The quilt is an interpretation of the beautiful waters surrounding Beaver Island, MI and is mainly done with sewn curved piecing and an appliquéd island.
Whirlies in my Pool - This quilt was started in 2000, and is made from a very wild jungle/parrot print. It is hand quilted in spirals that start in the center of each 7" block and spiral to the edge of each block. The edge is quilted in concentric quarter circles.
Hearts Ignited - An array of heart blocks partially created from a Block Swap with other quilters from all over the United States from the Quilter's Club of America.
Sunny - This is a fun project from Susan Carlson's book, "Serendipity Quilts", using a glued fabric collage technique. It is a great way to play with value and colour and use up all those tiny left over scraps. The outside rays were foundation paper pieced and one has some Ricky Tims hand dyed fabric.
