scraps 2009-2013 - one of my rules is to use scrap from previous quilts and don't let it build up. You can see it has built up and this year I'm following the rule.

scrap black thread research - this is another in scrap, however, I read a blogger that said she only used black thread to quilt with because it popped the colors out. There is a companion piece with white quilting thread to test this.

tryptich horizontal and vertical in green - This looks at a friendship between artists, one very vertical/horizontal and one diagonal in their images. The concept plays out in the intersections of the domestic machine quilting. Had to learn a new binding for this one.

diamonds, pearls and flowers - this was created in a class at Montavilla, to a large floor space showed it in its entirety that it was my ugliest quilt. So I made 4 from 1.

Burgundy/Paisley for Cheri - log cabin variation

Single flower - This was a challenge I did. I was given 24 different 5 inch square and had to use them all in my quilt.

Star and Points Spinning on a Square - I took a basic Ohio star, added 3 dimensional prairie points to the center, and quilted circles in the center by the prairie points to make it appear to spin. This is a practice quilt to test my idea for the next quilt, a Quilt of Valor. I made this a bit bigger for the Valor quilt.

Okinawa Autumn - My son is a Marine currently serving in Okinawa. He grew up in the North Georgia mountains where we have a beautiful fall season. Thought this quilt could give him some nice fall colors.

Jack - I was inspired to make this quilt from a photo of my son. I wanted to make something that I could have a good go at getting the eyes right.

Eyeglass cases - Eyeglass cases six inches high and three inches wide. The same design appears on the back. Blocks are 2 x 2 inches. Project is my original design.

Kalidescope of Nature - The pattern was in book, nickel was in name but I do not remember it. The quilt was a raffle quilt in order to raise funds for shelter. raffled in July 2013 Quilt has hung in the Ms. Museum or Art as part of the 2013 quilt exhibit

Sunflowers for T & M - Orange is the colour for T & M, so this wall hanging will go nicely with the quilt I made them a couple of years ago.

Mollies Garden - I love this quilt it is happy .

Island Cottage Retreat - This quilt was made for the Wiregrass Quilter’s Guild 2009 Landscape Challenge. We were given two fat quarters and had to use both fabrics in a 30” by 30” quilt that included at least one house. I chose a little cottage at Epworth-By-The-Sea on St. Simons Island, where our guild has a retreat every January, as the house for my quilt. I drew the house using pictures I had taken of it. I composed my original setting for the cottage from other pictures I had taken, including one of the bridge connecting the St. Simons to the mainland and others of trees from both the island and from the neighborhood where my daughter lives in Bakersfield, CA. Other elements of the landscape came from my imagination.

Flight of the Bumblebee, Dance of the Flower - This quilt is based on a photograph I took in the early 1970’s of a flower in my husband’s grandmother’s flower garden. As I was focusing on the flower, a bumblebee flew by causing me to jerk the camera and accidentally take a picture. That resulted in the large flower being in focus with the ground showing as a swirled arc following with direction the camera had moved as the picture was taken. I used applique techniques in Wendy Butler Burns’ Photo Album Quilts, applique and embellishment techniques in Margie Engel’s Bodacious Applique, and an appli-piecing technique I learned in a class from Sue Turnquist to make the quilt.
