Summertime is Playtime
Name of Maker: Rebecca M Trevino
Summertime is Playtime - Quilt made for a guild challenge. Short time frame given for completion. Size limited to 20 inches maximum on any side. This is my first time to participate in a group challenge. I kept adding "embellishments" until the quilt seemed finished. All the quilts entered in this challenge will be on display at the Coastal Prairie Quilt Guild of Texas in September 2014.
The Old Oak
Name of Maker: Jean Sredl
The Old Oak - This quilt won the Etsy Team QuiltsQuiltsQuilts September 2013 quilt of the month! The Old Oak - Memorialized in fabric a textile quiltart wall hanging is an asymmetrical 50 by 36 in one of my largest pieces. Planted by native Americans; after almost 200 years, numerous prairie fires, a civil war, countless storms, a lightening strike brought down the great tree. Machine pieced hand dyed linen, leather roots, silk fibers and sheers, hand quilted, embroidered and beaded, I put love in every stitch. This majestic tree is now a decaying stump returning all the nutrients back to the soil. Embellished with hand stitching featuring hand dyed silk and cotton yarns.
Pieces
Name of Maker: Jean Sredl
Pieces - This art quilt was selected for the Surface Design Association exhibit "It's Always Something" during the month of Septemeber 2013, and featured as one of four works on the brochure. Pieces an 18 x 34 fiber art quilt wall hanging - embellished with rust dyed cotton fused to felt, batik fabrics, hand and machine stitching, felt fabric bead border symbolizes the crazy thought process of multi-taskers. Unique rust dyed patterns are exciting contrasted with complementary turquoise batik fabrics diagonally pieced and machine quilted. This embellished batik fabric wall hanging includes a turquoise hanging ribbon.
