Prickly Abode - I made this pattern from a photo of a saguaro cactus taken by me and a Dover coloring book image of a Gila Woodpecker. I used colored pencils and so soft paints to create the image. This was created for Minnesota Contemporary Quilters abode challenge. The Gila Woodpecker uses the cactus for it's abode.

Brighten the Corner Where You Are! - I was inspired to make this quilt after watching the show on TQS with Jacquie Gering. The words were inspired by a short film by Pam Holland about women quilting in Africa. I just used three fat quarters some plain white fabric for the front and a yellow fabric for the back. All left-over scraps were pieced into the back of the quilt too.

Baa Baa Black Sheep - I made this quilt for a friend's niece. Love making sheep. I stitched the nursery rhyme all around the sashing.

Queen of Scraps - I adapted a design from Bonnie Hunter's blog in her Leader and Ender tutorial. I quilted this quilt as a QAYG (quilt as you go) project using a walking foot and straight line stitching. I got the idea for the stripy triangle border from a stash-buster idea from the TQS newsletter some time back.

Honor, Courage, Commitment! - This honors my Husbands retirement from the USN after 30 years. 9 blocks include his patches from 7 Submarines and 2 Sub Tenders. The center is the Mustang Emblem for when he was commissioned LDO. Bottom left is the Silver dolphin for qualifying Submarines and then there is the Gold Surface Warfare for the surface ships. the Flags have a total of 30 stars, one for each year. This was a collaboration with my sister in all aspects of the planning and construction.
