Contrary Wife - I used Electric Quilt to design this for my quilting friend's son and wife, who had asked her if she could make them a long, narrow wall hanging to go over their dining room doorway. It has a French Country or Italian Country look. Hattie machine pieced it using my design and the directions printed out from EQ. Then she hand quilted it. It looks wonderful, and her son and his wife were very pleased with the results!
Brenda's Quilt - Brenda's son (26) passed away Sept2004 of cancer. I offered to make a T-shirt quilt. When I went to pick up the shirts - Brenda also added jackets, the first outfit he bought, favorite jeans, hats, his boy scout badges and sash etc! How could I refuse her! He was a huge Boston Red Sox Fan - check out the Red Sox Block.
Mason 50th Anniversary quilt - Poinsettias and Holly prints machine appliqued in a heart shape. Photos of the couple were printed on white muslin and trimmed to small ornaments to hang on the quilt to celebrate 50 years of marriage.
New Beginnings - This quilt was made for my niece for a high school graduation gift, a new beginning. It made of 5 layers of fringed flannel using machine embroidery for quilting. The cat helped : )
Love on the Rocks - This is my daughter Meg in Nova Scotia, Canada.
I did not know what border to put on the quilt so pinned it to a wall quilt to take a photo and sent the photo to my quilty mom. She liked the border that was showing from the quilt behind, so I reproduced it for this quilt!
Flowers in the garden - This is a king sized quilt I made for my middle daughter for Christmas 2006. She loves blue and yellow! I adapted the pattern from the May 206 edition of 'The Quilter Magazine'. I doubled the size of the blocks and used just blue and yellow for the flowers.
When I was a young boy - This is my husband when he was 3 years old on his tricycle.

Eagle Creek - Quilt is based on photographs taken from a hike at Eagle Creek in Oregon. I made it while taking Joan Colvin's class "The Nature of Design."
Susan Murphy - Paper pieced wall hanging (with designer quilt hanger) based upon the pattern "Dragonfly Pond" by Stephen Seifert donated to the 2007 Central Florida koi club show & sale.
Purchased at auction by a private collector from Orlando.
Wish you were Here - I belong to a Stitch group where we occasionally design a Challenge for ourselves. This was to be titled "Wish you were Here." I decided to render portraits of my parents using tsinko inks and surround them with scanned portions of their letters to one another during their long (49 year) military marriage that included about 20 years of separation. I have boxes of those letters and the family treasures them, of course.
Once the drawings were done and surrounded by the letter fragments, I designed a red border crazy quilt style, and added a blue star in the center. I wanted the finished quilt to resemble the banners shown around town in the homes of those who have a soldier serving overseas.
The quilt won the "Martha's Choice" award at the Heritage Quilters of Huntsville bi-annual quilt show in 2005.
MicroCosmos II entry - As soon as I found out the theme for this years MicroCosmos (yesterday, today, and tomorrow), the idea of metamorphosis came to my mind. And that's just perfect for me because I just loooove butterflies :)
I just found out that Peggy bought my quilt! I am so glad that she enjoys it every day.
Bryan's Cavalry Flag - This quilt was made with the wonderful Stack the Deck technique and my own original pattern for the US Army's cavalry flag. The background was made to resemble camouflage fabric and has Bryan's Army patches sewn on the borders.
