Star Bright
Name of Maker: Penel
Star Bright - I took a class from Margaret Miller at the Houston Quilt Festival (after watching her on The Quilt Show) and fell in love with Angleplay quilts. This is a slight variation of one of her patterns in her book "Stunning Angleplay Quilts". I am already starting on my second Angleplay quilt!
Alpha
Name of Maker: Janet Stone
Alpha"baa"t Sampler - I had had the idea for this quilt for awhile, and when I saw the fabric with the printed lower case letters on it, I knew it was time to make it. It was my first attempt at curved piecing. This is the fifth quilt in my alphabet quilt series, (my plan is to make 26), which I am hoping to finish before I am 60!
Nouveau Quattro Alfabetico
Name of Maker: Janet Stone
Nouveau Quattro Alfabetico - This design was based on the classic art nouveau alphabet which I mirror imaged vertically and horizontally. It was my attempt at showing how letters can be used beautifully as a design element. It was machine appliqued, reverse appliqued, pieced and machine quilted. Lots of embellishments were used. (Love embellishments!) It is number 6 in my alphabet quilt series.
Alphabet Alchemy
Name of Maker: Janet Stone
Alphabet Alchemy - I wanted to make an alphabet quilt using stitching as the alphabet. Each block was pieced, quilted, mounted on heavy pellon, then attached to the quilted background using tiny brads. Lots of embellishments and doo-dads! This is the one quilt I have made where, if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing!
Valentine Quilt for Bernadine
Name of Maker: Carolyn Chapman
Valentine Quilt for Bernadine - A Valentine Wall Quilt for my 94 1/2-year-old Mother. The Ruffled Roses center is embellished by adding parts of a crocheted antimacassar made by Bernadine's mother, Mona Thompson (1892-1992).

Flight of the Phoenix - This quilt is made from hand dyed silk, with silk batting. The original design was done to compete in our local quilt show theme for something to do with flight.

Quilt Codes to Freedom: Fact or Folklore?
Name of Maker: R.Young, School Counselor and 4 3rd gr. classes
Quilt Codes to Freedom: Fact or Folklore? - Four classes of 3rd graders studied about slavery and the Underground Railway. Mrs. Young traced the blocks onto freezer paper backed fabric and taped them down so the students could color them after their lesson. The blocks were heat set and the quilt top constructed by Mrs. Young, School Counelor. Virginia Longarm Quilters completed the quilting for the 148 x 44 quilt which will be displayed in the school. This project was started many months ago and completed for Black History Month.

Xmas quilt for mom
Name of Maker: Chris
Xmas quilt for mom - I wanted to try making striped triangles without all the work, so I found a nice striped fabric in xmas colours, cut it into triangles and sewed the triangles together.
Galaxy of Stars
Name of Maker: Mary Cunningsworth
Galaxy of Stars - Wonderful scrap quilt pattern whereby 6" stars are bordered by darker/lighter HST's to form a 12" block. These form a secondary pattern when the blocks are set side by side. An HST border completes the look.
Strutting Roosters
Name of Maker: Janna Markle
I machine appliqued with a satin stitch the feathers and roosters. I had not yet learned the hand turn applique method yet, plus probably don't have the patience to hand applique these feathers! It is a fun quilt and brightens up my kitchen.
My Beauty
Name of Maker: Sue Buckingham
My Beauty - This piece was born in a weekend retreat with Jane Sassaman in 2010. A study in nature, brought into stylized form, using nature’s beauty as a springboard for our individual interpretation. “MY BEAUTY” took on a life of her own as she created herself through my hands.
Through the Garden Gate
Name of Maker: Nancy (Havens) Coleman
Through the Garden Gate - Made for my sister, 20 years younger tha I, but we are both quilters. She has waited 10 years for this.
Kelsey's Quilt
Name of Maker: Janna Markle
Kelsey's Quilt - Alex's book is what inspired me to get into quilting! I had to learn the techniques on another quilt before i actually made this one, but this is what started it all! I made this for my daughter who was 2 years old at the time when i was living in another city in transition of a move. I had to leave my daughter and husband in texas while i was in Louisville. I had a "professional longarm quilter" from Indiana do the quilting, but I don't remember her name!
Bandana
Name of Maker: Janna Markle
Bandana - I was inspired to make this quilt when i realized everything doesn't have to be "old fashioned" and traditional, even though this is way more traditional that i make now! I used a heavy thread and long top stitch to hand stitch a bandana pattern onto the large red squares.
