MQ Challenge 2008
Name of Maker: Cindy Wilson
MQ Challenge 2008 - This was designed for the 2008 Minnesota Quilter's Challenge, which was to commemorate the MQ's 30th Birthday. In the design, there are 3 shells, one for each decade. From each, the seahorse is pulling a string of 10 pearls, one for each year. The fabrics were all a part of the "Challenge Packet" to be used for the project. This not only won 1st place, but it was then put into the Silent Auction and brought almost $250. I was very honored.
MQ Challenge 2009

MQ Challenge 2009 - This was the 2009 Minnesota Quilter's Challenge fabric. The theme was based upon the north shore of Minnesota (along Lake Superior), and should include flying geese. My design concept was a "flock of flying geese" taking off from a northern lake at sunset. It was sold at silent auction to benefit my cousin Linda, who is battling stomach and liver cancer.

Holly Birdie - Traci Suzanne Marvel and I have a pattern design company called Woolin Rouge Designs. We designed this table set for a French Magazine, Magic Patch. It has napkins and napkin rings to match. Traci did a line drawing of the bird and I did the rest of the designing and putting the table setting together. We both come up with the fabrics. It is made from Kate Spains 12 Days of Christmas and the applique is all wool. This design is produced by Bigfork Bay Cotton Company.

The thread is Aurifil Cotton 50 wt for the quilting and Aurifil Lana Wool 12 wt for the applique and embroidery.
Star Light Snow Bright
Name of Maker: Sylvia Gauthier
Star Light Snow Bright - Traci Suzanne Marvel and I have the Design Company Woolin Rouge. Or patterns are produced by Bigfork Bay Cotton Company. This was the first design that Traci and I did as a design team. She had this adorable design in her portfolio and I took it and created this adorable wool quilt from it. Star Light Snow Bright is made 100% out of wool. I used Aurifil Lana wool thread in the enitre quilt including the quilting. It was so exciting to see Traci's scetch turn into a wool quilt. I am grateful for Traci and Bigfork Bay Cotton Company every day.
Hippie Birdie
Name of Maker: Sylvia Gauthier
Hippie Birdie - This is a pattern designed by Woolin Rouge Designs (Sylvia Gauthier and Traci Suzanne Marvel) for Bigfork Bay Cotton Company. Traci had done a painting of the bird called Hippie BirdDay. It was a birthday present for a friend. I took her painting and recreated it into a wool applique. With some color changes and fabric from Art Gallery Quilts we ended up with a table setcalled Hippie Birdie. The pattern has place mats, napkins, and napking ring directions too.
