Star Log Cabin - Watched a video on Quilters TV, Eleanor Burns making a star log cabin. I was so taken with her quilt I just had to make one for myself, well I am going to give it to a niece for her birthday but I just feel I will make this pattern again in different colours. I liked it so much

Joseph's Quilt - This quilt was made for my great nephew Joseph Russell, from my father's shirts. My father who passed away three years ago, always told stories about his mother using everything until it was gone. She quilted from old clothes because they had no money for new fabric. He told those stories with great pride in his voice. I think he would be very happy that my sister and I put his shirts to good use. She made a beautiful lap quilt for my mother and I managed to get this one made. ( my first official pieced quilt) It's not perfect, but there is a lot of love in it. Priority Mail Quilts - Mini-quilts were printed from various pictures on white cotton fabric and then quilted using various quilting patterns from Leah Day Designs. These are FREE free motion designs: http://www.freemotionquilting.blogspot.com/ These mini-quilts are called Priority Mail because they must fit in a Priority mail envelope. They are donated to the Alzheimer's Quilt Initiative: http://www.alzquilts.org/ The money raised goes toward Alzheimer's awareness and research. This is a great way to try different techniques. I have learned a lot of what works well.

Priority Mail Quilts - Esp'erer is a quilt of the map of Haiti. A young girl that is the future of the country. Queen Cavalier is my friends dog which has been printed and painted with acrylic, oil crayons and thread. A Girl Justs Gotta Have Fun is a picture from Lizzie in Australia. This was printed, layered with trapunto and quilted. Quilts on the way to Houston.

Susan Rhudy - This stained glass picture was made by my 12 year old g-son. I printed it on white cotton fabric and then quilted it using different patterns and thread in each rectangle. I darkened the black lines with a fabric crayon. The quilt has a pillow case binding. This quilt will be donated to the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. I am trying to use some of Leah Day's Designs for her FREE free motion designs. She makes it look so easy as do Alex and Ricky. Note: If you are using a minor's art you must get permission from a parent and send it with the quilt.
