Name of Maker: Naomi Weidner
While she was busy quilting, Mary’s garden grew wi - I was inspired by pieces I saw at an outdoor art festival to make something using 2-sided tucks. This piece is in response to a challenge in my guild to use a specific green fabric (in the border and behind the upper tucks), with a seasonal theme inspired by a Crayon that came with my challenge fabric. My Crayon was dark blue (which I interpreted as summer, and used behind the lower tucks). My personal challenge for this piece was to incorporate 2-sided tucks. I 2 different flower fabrics for each tuck, and pressed the tucks in different directions to display the fabric on each side. I secured the tucks with beads. The name (While she was busy quilting, Mary’s garden grew wild) was inspired by the children's rhyme Mary, Mary Quite Contrary, and I included quilted silver bells, cockle shells, little maids in a row.
