Living Stones
Name of Maker: Linda A. Taylor
Living Stones - I made this quilt from cut pieces I found in an antique shop in Troy, NY The triangles look like equalateral triangles, but they are not (maybe why they never made it to a quilt?0. I made a pattern shape the same as the pieces from unbleached muslin and set the pieces alternating with the muslin. For more inormation, see the blog about it at https://www.quiltersclubofamerica.com/blogs/linyt/archive/2009/10/27/living-stones-piecing-someone-else-s-dream.aspx
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Nou'veau
Name of Maker: Robin Gausebeck
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Nou'veau - This is my entry into the 2010 New Quilts from an Old Favorite contest at the National Quilt Museum. It was selected as a finalist, which means that it will be hanging in the quilt museum, whether or not I win an award, during quilt week in Paducah. This year's contest theme was the sunflower block and the challenge was to take this traditional block and use it in an innovative way. This quilt reflects my love of all things Art Nouveau. There is trapunto work and I quilted it using Superior black metallic thread.

Nessun Dorma - Nessun Dorma (no rest) was completed in 2007. This quilt was a labor of love ( 3 year project). It is machine paper pieced ( original pattern ) with hundreds of differnt fabrics of various color values. The curvie blocks were machine pieced together and the entire designs was pieced into a large single piece background fabric. All I can tell you is that you may not want to attempt this project. I am gald that I finished what I started but would never do this again. The quilt was professionally longarm quilted by Carol Selepec ( Eleanor Burns cousin ).

Advent Calendars
Name of Maker: Deb Bowers
Advent Calendars - I had to make two of these Advent Calendars so each of our children's families could have one. We have 5 grandchildren (3 in one family and 2 in the other) so it was quite a challenge to find gifts small enough to fit 3 in each of the 3"x3" pockets. Since we were shipping them, I had to seal each pocket with darning thread tied at one end so the items would not fall out (it also keeps prying eyes out before the appropriate day). I'm not really into hand embroidery, I had originally intended for these calendars to be ready for Christmas 2008, unfortunately, I didn't get them done until a few days ago - just in time to get them to the kids by December 1st of 2009. They really did turn out cute. What a great pattern - if I ever make another one though, I think I'll do machine embroidery or just print the pictures onto material instead of doing the hand embroidery :).
