Lori's Oriental Garden - This quilt was a $5.00 quilt made at Creative Sewing Center over a 6 month period. We would meet monthly and if we completed the previous month's block we would get the next block free. I completed the quilt at a quilt retreat 6/2006 and gave it to a cherished friend for her birthday.
The pattern was created by Terry Sohl - owner of Creative Sewing Center in San Antonio, TX.

Sailor's delight - I was working with a simple block, but I wanted to emphasize the color transitions...from the ocean, grasses, sand, rocks, lighthouses, to the sky.
Fields of Gold - I issued a challenge to myself to use up a large qty of scraps. I sorted them into paper sacks by color, then I had to draw out the strips randomly, and sewed them to a foundation of non-woven interfacing. I arranged the blocks by color across the quilt.
AIDS panel - This was an AIDS panel done on commision for a friend. The panel contains photos, a favorite saying of the person who passed away. The stars in the quilt were made from his Hawaiian shirts, and the buttons in the center were from his shirts also.
Baby Elephants Quilt - Made for a new baby whose mom just loves elephants! It was mint when he received it and I hope by now it has been well used and washed at least a few times.
Wecome - On a recent trip to Hawaii I found this pattern in a small quilt fabric store and had to have it. It hangs in our new home. The flip-flops are actual tracings of my family's feet. It was machine appliqued and machine quilted.
Springtime Iris - I found out about my mother's caretaker's birthday being a week away and knew that she loves purple so went through my stash and found the iris fabric and then shopped. I finished this in a weekend and Jane quilted it quickly. Mom was able to give it to Doretta on her birthday.
Bright Lonely Star - I don't normally do traditional quilts, so this Lone Star is something different for me. The quilt top was pieced three years ago and put away because I was so bored with it. This winter I decided to finally get it quilted. The border is my original design.
Sample machine applique (invisible technique) - Sample block made in Sue Nickels' machine applique class at Glendale Quilt Show 2006. Invisible machine applique using tiny blind hem stitch and invisible thread on top, thread to match applique on the bottom.

Welcome Julia - I made this quilt for my great-niece Julia for her birth present. It hangs on the wall in her nursery where she can see it when her mom rocks her. It was so much fun to make and is fun to see in pictures with Julia.
