Will's Rocket Quilt
Name of Maker: Lori Allison
Will's Rocket Quilt - I made this for my son. We live in Mars, PA, and he loved rockets, so this quilt seemed appropriate. I bought some artwork by Kris Banks, and adapted the quilt from that picture.
Godly Woman
Name of Maker: Stiina
Godly Woman - I took verses from Proverbs 31 which describe what God wants us to be. I found the project very enlightening and that most women ARE what they are here to do! Anyone who feels that she is not living the life she should be must take some time to ready this short partial chapter. With these snippits, I combined them with small embroideries to liven the blocks and then used a spirograph type purchased embroidery set to make the setting squares. The embroidery threads were selected to coordinate with the border fabrics.
My Dream Quit
Name of Maker: Soleraquilter

My Dream Quilt - Got instructions for this quilt from a friend who had taken a class at a quilt shop. She was told the pattern hadn't been published and I've never seen it anywhere. The technique is similar to mirror image bargello, only in individual blocks. Each set of 8 coordinated fabrics makes two blocks, a light center and a dark center. It takes lots of shopping to find 8 coordinated fabrics ranging from very light to very dark in 12 different colors. But who's complaining about fabric shopping? I designed the hand appliqued border using three simple flower shapes and lots of colors, just like in the quilt center.

Poinsettia
Name of Maker: Bonnie Lewis
Poinsettia - I purchased this pattern several years ago for a flip & sew foundation quilt, but decided I didn't want to do it that way. So I traced the pattern and turned it into a hand applique pattern. I added some beads to the center of each flower for a little bling. Finished in time for Christmas 2008.
My Brave New World
Name of Maker: CharleneNJ
My Brave New World - After our Batik Block Swap, I was looking for a pattern that I could use all the delicious fabrics and came across this one in Fons and Porter. I pieced the top several years ago, and set it aside since many of the seams didn't match up perfectly. Another lesson learned. I just had it long armed this year so that we can hang it in our quilt show - Hot Needles Cool Quilts 2009.
Great-Grandmother's Double Wedding Ring
Name of Maker: Bridget Lilja and June Campbell
Great-Grandmother's Double Wedding Ring - My great-grandmother hand-pieced the arcs using feed sacks many years ago but she never completed the quilt. My grandmother had the pieces in a trunk and passed them down to me to finish. I had to draft several templates for all the white pieces but they finally fit and I was happily able to finish the quilt.
