Vortex
Name of Maker: Carol Clasper
Vortex - This quilt was made as my final assessment quilt for my Part 2 City & Guilds course. I used my own hand dyed fabrics. It uses raw edge applique which I did before it became popular. Each alternate segment is stipple quilted on a Pfaff 1475 with straight quilting in the background. The binding is made up of one inch pieces of the fabrics used in the centre of the quilt.

This Old House: It's Not All There Is
Name of Maker: Elsie Vredenburg
This Old House: It's Not All There Is - The front of the quilt, the old house, represents our earthly life, with its troubles and sometimes gray days, though there is a suggestion of hope in the sunset colors appearing periodically in the sky. The back of the quilt represents our home in heaven. Though it was made in memory of Don, it is also a quilt of hope, looking forward to the time I shall join him and our Lord on the other side.

Sadie's Garden
Name of Maker: Annette Ratzenberger
Sadie's Garden - Sadie drew a picture of a quilt that she wanted me to make for her. It was to be all pink and purple with flowers on the sides, butterflies in the middle and rainbows at the top. Sadie was 4 at the time she "designed" it. She also picked the fabrics and had very stron opinions on that (no white!) .
Multi-tasking
Name of Maker: Arlene Ritz
Multi-tasking - Inspired by the work of Mickey Depre. The flower head of the scarecrow is from a picture taken in my yard and then transferred to fabric. There is thread painting and 3-D wings for the bumble bees. The water coming from the watering can are couched on irridescent thread. The crystals and nail head beads are all heat set.
