Peak a Boo Bears - This was the first quilt I made. I made it for my son. I found fabric with little bears in the pockets of denim jeans. and wanted to make them the focas. I found this pattern for friendship stars with a ribbon design.
Double Asters for Melannie & Sean - I made this for a wedding gift for a niece. She picked the pattern and gave me her color choice and I picked the fabric.
Warm Quilt for Chemotherapy Lab - I have been in chemothearpy for the past 3 years and it's cold in the lab. This is one of 4 flannel lap quilts I am making to donate to the lab so patients can stay warm. It's just a pretty flannel print and I added a simple border. Function over style.
Bubbles - I saw this delightful baby mermaid in a colour book. After applique her & the fish I was not happy with it & left it for sevral months then I saw the clam shell one day around her mentally, I appliqued this on to the blue fabric & embrodiered the clam shape. It now hangs in a wee girls bedroom. Cheers Glenda Down Under
Memory Quilt - While visiting my son & beautiful daughter-in-law in Japan I was approached by their neighbour & friend who showed me her silk obi she had worn on her girls day 55 years earlier & she asked how could she make it in to a quilt. I suggested several ideas. As she was not a quilter she asked if I would take on the project for her. The centre panel is the original obi unfolded & left completely as it came of the loom(woven by hand & all silk threads except for the gold threads very very heavy) I decided that the fabric was so outstanding on it's own it did not need any embellishing plus I could not bring my self to cut that unbelievable beautiful fabric. I then just added boarders made for simple silk Obi's. It now lies on her bed in pride of place instead of lying in a draw forgotten by all but Kimio. Cheers Glenda
Blue Water - This is one of my sample quilts I teach. Blocks are cotton calico & the applique is old Kimono silks & cottons. Blocks are put to gether with Japanese traditional kimono cotton. I unpick the Kimono's & use them again in my quilts. Cheers Glenda Down Under
Burnt Orange - This was my 2008 Challenge; I gave my self 2 months to do each section???? I never finished the last baorder as my husbane came home early Nov & told me he had brought air tickets to vist our son & family who where living in North Carolina then!!!!! I still have not come up with what I want on the final boarder?????? Centre panel is from Quilters News Letter birthday present pattern; all applique. Flowers are irion on applique which I'm still button-holeing around!!!! Then there is the Bow tye block_ Cheers Glenda down Under
Double Dutch - Pieced stars with in stars. Machine pieced and machine quilted with a meandering design throughout the quilt and alond the outside border.
Mariner's Star - I made this quilt in a Peggy Martin workshop. It was paper pieced using her quick strip technique that works great and was really fun.
Teapots - This was a quilt started at AQS 2001. The class was about fusing and free motion quilting. It was extremely fun, and this quilt was the result.
Dreaming of babies - This is a pieced top using four patch and square in square quilt blocks. When the top is quilted I will swap it for the complete quilt picture.
