The Hidden Star Sampler
Name of Maker: Marsha E. Miles
The Hidden Star Sampler - Loved this quilt when I saw in in my LQS. So I signed up for the class! I had to add the extra blue border because my fabrics didn't "play" nicely together in the borders. I have placed in sideways on my queen sized bed in order to fit.
Attic Window
Name of Maker: Karen Good
Attic Window - This Shadow Box wall hanging was done with fussy cutting of the background fabric so they would line up as one horizon and looking out a window it was the sunset. I really like how it turned out. I did stitch in the ditch around the window frames and some stippling across the background. This was given to my oldest daughter as a Christmas gift in 2006. I hope that she hung it on her bedroom wall but she has not let me know yet or taken a picture of it for me.
Spicy hot Thangles block of the month
Name of Maker: Robin
Spicy hot Thangles block of the month - Thangles block of the month 2 or 3 quilt -- tied
Jelly Roll Quilt
Name of Maker: Karen Good
Jelly Roll Quilt - This is a quilt made from Jelly Roll strips all sewn together in a straight line, then folded and cut and take the pieces and cut off about 18-20 inches then sew those two lengths together and cut again at fold and continue until strips measure the size quilt you want. This is a single bed size I made and added large borders and the backing I made large enough so I could fold it over for the binding. This quilt is being donated to the Shalva Children's Center in Jerusalem, Israel from a fire they had in 2013.
Thomas the Train Quilt
Name of Maker: Karen Good
Thomas the Train Quilt - This was a panel my grandsons mom bought at Wal-mart and asked if I could enlarge it for Caden's youth bed. I actually took and added borders to the front and back of the quilt and took the stitching out and then restitched following the original stitching on my Mega Quilter quilting frame. It came out pretty good and I was really happy with the results.
Blue Star Rising
Name of Maker: Leah Davis
Blue Star Rising - I made this quilt for my daughter, Kilani. At that time blue was her favorite color. At the time I made this quilt she was 11 years old. She was (and still is) my 'blue star rising'.
Eye of the Hurricane
Name of Maker: Leah DAvis
Eye of the Hurricane - I made this for my oldest daughter who took all the hard roads in her early years. The blocks reminded me of the hurricane tracking pictures we see here in Florida. I wrote this on the quilt " When you are living in the midst of the hurricane, keep your eyes on God and he will get you through".
Up, Up and Away
Name of Maker: Leah Davis
Up, Up and Away - This was made from a panel that was 18 inches high by WOF wide. I cut fussy cut around elements and added other commercial sky fabric and raw-edge appliqued airplanes into the other sky. This was made as a charity quilt.
Dream of Falling Leaves
Name of Maker: Leah Davis
Dream of Falling Leaves - Being a native Floridian, fall is not something I have experienced here. I collected leaves on my daily walk and used them as patterns for the leaves on the quilt. I chose 'fall colors' and machine appliqued them on a 'wavy' pieced backgroung. The border fabric is used on the back of the quilt with green appliques leaves.
50 Years of Love
Name of Maker: Leah Davis
50 Years of Love - Made for my parents 50th Wedding anniversary. Photos from their lives before and after marriage. Light areas actually contain signatures/messages from friends and family.
Double Star
Name of Maker: Cheryl McCain
Double Star - This quilt was made for a swap on about.com. The swap partner said that she liked blue green and orange. I had seen other quilts done in the same manner. So I drafted the idea in EQ5 and printed the 4 inch blocks. One of the pieces in the block only measures 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch. I was going to do one just like it for myself. But after taking 6 months to do the small pieces. I think this will be the only one in this size.
