Royal Reflection - This is my first attempt at an abstract piece. It is the result of a class with Dena Crain at Quilt University. It began with a few lines on a page and, after much redrawing and rethinking, and a lot of encouragement from Dena, the result is the figure, which, I think represents a chess queen. I used turned-edge machine and hand applique and raw-edge fused applique. My fabrics included some beaded organza, tulle, as well as hand-dyed and commercial fabrics. I learned from an online instructional video to attach the shisha mirror and purchased a "wand" and some hot-fix crystals to add some sparkle. I also did some couching and utilized some metallic and glitter thread. This was a fun experience and I will definitely try it again.
