Design Source - Description |
Inspired by a challenge to do something representing another culture, I wanted to capture the disdainful tolerant attitude I'd witnessed in the iguanas found poolside at a Puerto Vallarta resort when dealing with the tourists who constantly followed them around photographing them. They seemed to tap into an awareness that they have been around millenniums. I added background images from the Mayan culture to reflect some of what they might have witnessed. All raw edge applique and reverse applique used on over 250 pieces of batik fabriic. The spines on "Juan's" back are dimensional. Prismacolor pencils and Tsukineko inks used to enhance values. |
