Tucson January 8th

Tucson January 8th - I made this quilt after the Tucson shootings to express my grief and sympathy for the victims. The top of the "sun" is a stylized section of the Arizona state flag, the lower half a disheartened sun. It is collaged on muslin from hundreds of small bits of fabric, then free motion quilted. There are 19 fussy-cut flowers, one for each victim worked into the design.
