ashgrovemo Play with Misti for me. - I have been making quilts for Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative and took some time out to make one for my sister Kay. I took a picture of her dog, corrected the eyes, darkened and simplified the background. I printed it out on 100 percent cotton fabric with my Epson 1900 printer using the Ultra Premium Matte setting. I then added four layers of batting to the nose and three to the body. I quilted the dog in the first layer. I used gold and copper thread for her dog tags. I did overall quilting in the fourth layer which was behind the dog and the background. Misti's coat is so luminescent that it showed up in the fabric print. I tried to follow the curliness of her cockapoo hair when I quilted it. I mounted the quilt on an art canvas and it improved the picture greatly.
