MEMA1 Cranes Across the Moon - Cranes fly across the moon and below are gorgeous chrysantemum blooms. To the side are log-cabin-like blocks with Asian motifs at the center. The flowers have been embellished with hot-fix rhinestones. The border was made from a fabric with a vine in it. I had to piece it together to keep the vine running around the quilt. The lower left-hand corner had a pair of cranes appliqued onto the border. This helped cover up a spot where the border was being especially difficult (LOL). I also emphasized the moon by putting a second layer of batting underneath. This wallhanging was made for my daughter-in-law for her birthday. She has had a TERRIBLE year, undergoing surgery on her cervical spine for a tumor, after months of pain and diagnostic procedures (usually more painful). She was so depleted and tired she was not her usual sunny, happy self. I felt I could help with a wallhanging that reminded her of Korea. After she got it, she called me to tell me how she loved the gift and how it reminded her of her Korean home. She sounded better (thankfully).
