Design Source - Description | My third grade class wanted to make a quilt. We decided to make it an artistic one with each student using fabric crayons and drawing his or her favorite animal. I took various fabrics from my stash and let the students choose fabrics to border each block. Each student kept his/her block with threaded needles and border pieces in a zip lock bag. When they had free time, they pulled out their block and hand pieced it together. I sewed the blocks together. We put the quilt on a traditional frame balanced on chairs in the library and some parents and grandparents helped quilt it. The students agreed to auction off the quilt to benefit the Parents' Club. It was a great project! |
