The Awakening

The Awakening - Inspired by a haunting photo of a forest and my love of trees, this image represents the awakening of a woman's love for anything that has been supressed. The woman's face, arms and legs are done with Prismacolor pencils; Tsukineko inks to enhance values of the trees; the sky and silk nightgown are hand painted; the moon/sun is airbrushed. It is all fused raw-edged applique. I am deeply indebted to Lura Schwarz Smith for all she taught me.
