jcarkeet Garden of Giving - We had a quilt retreat at our church, and every woman who attended contributed a square. Some brought other projects to work on, but many were first time quilters who made a square as a beginning project from which to learn. We purchased brightly colored fabric and a white background, so each block would be individualized in style and pattern and yet tied to the whole in fabrics and colors. When it was over, my sister-in-law and I pieced it all together, added black border and binding and quilted it. Then we donated it back to the church as a fundraiser to help send a group to Ghana to build a school, and it earned over $500 for this worthy cause. It was a popular fundraiser because so many women in our congregation participated.
