Wagon Wheel - This quilt was made as part of the Grab Bag 2008 Quilt Challenge, hosted by Tomme Fent. This quilt is hand-pieced, hand-appliquéd, and machine quilted and has the feeling of a fanciful well-traveled wagon. This year there were over 50 participants and photos of all of the Grab Bags, the completed quilts, and the artists’ statements were collected on a CD that is being sold to benefit Fiberart For A Cause. ( http://www.virginiaspiegel.com/NewFiles/ACSFundraiser.html ) A grab bag is a plastic bag filled with fabrics, fibers, embellishments, found objects, etc. – whatever the person sending would like to see in their quilt. The plastic bag must fit inside a Priority Mail flat-rate envelope, which was then mailed to Ms. Fent. She sent a Grab Bag to each of the participants who based on the content of the bag created a quilt. The maker did not know to whom the quilt they were creating would belong.
