Making star quilts is a family tradition that has been on-going in my family for three generations. Now two of my daughters are carrying on this tradition into the fourth generation. This quilt was used as a 'Give Away' blanket for my Grandma who had passed away just a few months before her 101st birthday. It is 86"X95" with a beautiful pattern of light blue, sky blue, white, and navy blue. I made and hand quilted this 100% cotton quilt by myself. This Blue Star for my Gramma was alot of work but well worth it. My grandma used to keep me every summer for at least two months sometimes three. She is actually the first one who taught me to sew by hand when I was seven years old. In Native American traditions, star quilts are often given to honor an individual in memory of a lost loved one. |
