Kristen's Sweet 16

Kristen's Sweet 16 - This is my second quilt ever made. I used the figures from the Inuyasha cartoon (Kisten's favorite at the time) and made her a quilt for her "sweet 16". I referenced her black and white cartoon books (which figures are quite small). I scanned the cartoon figures, blew them up, mirrored and used a reflection technique to trace them on to fabric. Once traced I used crayon to set the color in the faces before finishing the faces in hand embroidery. Blocks were constructed from 50+ batik fabrics with no similar blocks touching. I was completely self taught at the time so obviously I did all of these steps the hard way including piecing the entire back of the quilt! I made a matching pillow. She currently has this quilt with her at college.
