Quilt made as an exercise in color value. I made this for a class taught by Helene Knott at Story Quilts. After playing with several layouts, I decided to simulate a burst of light near the center, fading to dark edges. I was thinking about how often dreams have a core of truth surrounded by ambiguity and darkness. Quilting depicts a mermaid surrounded by animal friends (horse, dolphin, turtle, squirrel, bird, and fish). |
